If you want to connect TikTok Shop to Shopify, the official route is the TikTok sales channel app. Once it's set up, your catalog, inventory, orders and fulfillment sync between the two, so you manage everything from your Shopify admin.
The clicks take minutes. What slows people down is everything around them: the wrong country, the wrong account role, missing addresses and products TikTok won't approve. I'll cover it in the order you'll hit it.
Check if your store can connect TikTok Shop to Shopify
Before you install anything, confirm you meet Shopify's requirements for TikTok Shop:
- Supported country. Shopify currently lists the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, Ireland, France, Italy, Germany, Mexico, Japan and Brazil. This list changes, so check Shopify's TikTok setup page.
- A verifiable address in Settings → Locations.
- An online store on Shopify (not just a POS or a Buy Button setup).
- A TikTok for Business account. If you don't have one, you can create it during onboarding inside the TikTok app.
- Products allowed in your region. TikTok has separate prohibited products policies for the US, UK and each EU market.
US, UK and Canada differences
The integration is region specific. A US Shopify store can only connect to TikTok Shop US, and a UK store can only connect to TikTok Shop UK. TikTok checks this against your Shopify billing address under Settings → General.
Canadian stores are the awkward case. Canada isn't on Shopify's supported list, and TikTok Shop hasn't opened to Canadian sellers. You can still install the TikTok app to run ads and add the TikTok pixel, but you can't sell through in-app checkout yet.
Prepare your Shopify store first
- Fix your locations. Go to Settings → Locations and make sure each location you ship from has a complete, real street address. TikTok uses these for warehouses.
- Publish your policies. Go to Settings → Policies and fill in your refund, shipping, privacy and terms pages. TikTok reviews your business and policies during verification, so empty pages slow it down.
- Clean up product data. Every product should have a clear title, real photos, a description, a price, inventory tracking turned on and a unique SKU for each variant.
- Confirm your billing address under Settings → General matches the country you plan to sell in.
Check: open a few best sellers and confirm every variant has a SKU and a stock count.
How to connect TikTok Shop to Shopify, step by step
These are the steps from Shopify's help center. Depending on your admin, the first menu may be called Sales channels or Apps and sales channels.
- From your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Sales channels (or Settings → Apps and sales channels).
- Click Shopify App Store and log in if you're asked to.
- Search for TikTok. Pick the official app published by TikTok, not one of the third-party connectors that show up near it.
- Click Add channel (the button may just say Install).
- On the Set up TikTok Shop page, find the TikTok Shop section and click Connect.
- In the Sign Up dialog, click Log in if you already have a TikTok for Business account. If not, fill in your phone number, email and password, then click Register as merchant.
- In the Connect to Shopify? dialog, review the TikTok Shop Merchant Terms of Service and click Connect.
Check: TikTok should now show up under your sales channels in the Shopify admin. Open it. If you only see marketing options and no TikTok Shop section, jump to the errors section below.
If the login window hangs or closes, TikTok's guide suggests allowing third-party cookies in your browser while you connect.
Verify your business
Next, TikTok needs to confirm who you are. In the TikTok channel, in the Shop information section, click Verify, complete the fields in the Upload Documents dialog and click Next.
In the US, TikTok asks for business details, valid addresses, business documents, tax information and bank details for payouts. UK sellers go through a similar review. Exact documents vary by market and business type, but it usually helps to have these ready:
- Your legal business name and registration details, exactly as they appear on official documents
- A government-issued photo ID for the business owner or representative
- Your tax ID
- A bank account for payouts in the country where you sell
- A warehouse or return address that matches what's in Shopify
Review times vary, and TikTok can ask for more documents. Small mismatches, like a different spelling of the business name, are a common cause of delays.
Sync your products and fix rejections
Once the connection is live, you choose which Shopify products to sync. Start with a small set of best sellers, not the whole catalog. It's easier to learn TikTok's rules on ten products than on four hundred.
Every synced product goes through TikTok's review. To see where each one stands:
- In TikTok Shop Seller Center, open the product list and check the status: approved, pending or needs changes.
- Click any flagged product to see the reason.
- Fix the issue in Shopify, not in Seller Center. Shopify is the source of truth, and edits made there sync to TikTok.
- Wait for the update to sync, then check the status again.
The usual reasons for rejection are prohibited or restricted categories, watermarked or text-heavy images, health claims in descriptions, missing variant details and prices that look wrong. If Google is disapproving the same products, the cause is often shared, and I fix both sides through my Google Merchant Center for Shopify service.
If you see the error "Your products couldn't be synced to TikTok due to a location address issue," go back to Settings → Locations in Shopify and complete the warehouse address.
Set up shipping and orders
New TikTok Shop orders sync into your Shopify admin. How you ship them depends on the shipping option you pick in Seller Center:
- TikTok Shipping: you create shipping labels in Seller Center → Shipping Labels, and TikTok updates the fulfillment status in Shopify automatically.
- Shipped by Seller: you ship with your own carrier and add tracking yourself.
You can switch between the two at any time in Seller Center → Shipping Options.
Check: when your first order arrives, confirm it shows in Shopify with the right products, address and tracking, and that stock drops on both platforms.
If you already sell on TikTok Shop
Connecting an existing TikTok Shop needs a bit more care.
- Clear pending orders first. TikTok advises finishing any open orders, returns and refunds before you connect. Orders from before the connection, and later updates to them, stay in Seller Center and don't sync to Shopify.
- Remove conflicting connector apps. If a third-party app already syncs TikTok Shop with Shopify, make sure it's compatible with the official app or disconnect it. Running two sync tools at once can cause order status problems.
- Match your SKUs. Existing TikTok Shop products are linked to Shopify products by SKU. If the SKUs don't match exactly, you can end up with duplicate listings.
TikTok also offers a Shopify connector inside Seller Center, so you can start the connection from the TikTok side instead.
Common errors when you connect TikTok Shop to Shopify
"Seller not main account." Only the Owner of the TikTok Shop account can connect it to Shopify. Log in to Seller Center, click your profile icon in the top right and check your role. If you're an admin or staff member, the owner has to do this step.
Only "TikTok for Marketing" shows, no TikTok Shop option. This usually means a region mismatch: your Shopify billing country doesn't match the TikTok Shop you're connecting. Check Settings → General.
You want two TikTok Shops on one store. That isn't supported. One Shopify store connects to one TikTok Shop account at a time.
Products stuck in "pending" or not syncing. Check your location addresses, inventory tracking and SKUs first, then the rejection reason in Seller Center. The troubleshooting logic is a lot like a Facebook Shop not syncing with Shopify: the problem usually lives in the product data or account settings, not the app itself.
You need help from TikTok. TikTok Shop is run and supported by TikTok, not Shopify. Use Get Support inside the TikTok channel or the Help Center in Seller Center.
Don't skip tracking
The TikTok app can also install the TikTok pixel on your store. That matters if you plan to run ads that send people to your site, not just to in-app checkout. Turn it on, then confirm in TikTok Ads Manager that page views and purchases come through.
If you have UK or EU visitors, make sure the pixel respects your cookie consent banner. Under UK rules, marketing cookies generally need consent before they fire. If your pixel, Conversions API or GA4 numbers don't add up, my Shopify tracking setup service covers TikTok, Meta and Google together.
FAQ
Can I connect TikTok Shop to Shopify if my store is in Canada?
Not for selling, at the time of writing. Shopify's list of supported countries for TikTok Shop does not include Canada, and TikTok has not opened Seller Center to Canadian sellers. You can still install the TikTok app in Shopify to run TikTok ads and set up the TikTok pixel.
Can one Shopify store connect to more than one TikTok Shop?
No. TikTok says a Shopify store can only be connected to one TikTok Shop account at a time. If you need a second TikTok Shop, you either disconnect the current one or create a separate Shopify store and connect that.
Can I connect my UK Shopify store to a US TikTok Shop?
No. The integration is region specific, so a US Shopify store connects to TikTok Shop US and a UK store connects to TikTok Shop UK. TikTok checks the region against the billing address in your Shopify settings.
Do TikTok Shop orders show up in Shopify?
Yes. Once the connection is live, new TikTok Shop orders sync into your Shopify admin so you can fulfill them alongside your other orders. If you were already selling on TikTok Shop before connecting, those older orders and any refunds on them stay in Seller Center.
Why does the TikTok app only show TikTok for Marketing and not TikTok Shop?
This usually means your Shopify store's billing region doesn't match a TikTok Shop account or a supported TikTok Shop market. Check the billing address under Settings, then General, and make sure you are connecting a TikTok Shop from the same country.
